A Brisk Walk
Happy Sunday morning to each and every one of you. I took off for a local convenience store this morning after a brief conversation with my son, and a friend of my daughters, about the temperature. My suggestion that it was cool was met with considerable opposition and words like brutal or cold were recommended in its place. After this short consultation I settled on brisk. And as it turned out I was right. Properly dressed, I proceeded to said store for a cup of coffee. Well, actually, French Vanilla Cappuccino, which is as close to actual coffee as I ever get. A pretty uneventful walk all in all, for me anyway. There was the one guy waiting at an intersection in a residential area. He had plenty of time to make his turn well ahead of me. When I got to the intersection he motioned to me so I figured he was lost and needed directions. When I stepped toward his vehicle he muttered something like, no I was ... , and then proceeded to enter the intersection and make his turn. It turns out the pause there, well ahead of the stop sign, was to light a cigarette. How was I to know. Then at the store I, while at the counter with my coffee, realized I didn't grab enough change to cover the transaction. I apologized and left the coffee and started to walk off when the cashier asked how much I had. I was 4 cents short. He said, no problem, I'll take it. I thanked him and took the coffee, along with a tinge of embarrassment, out the door and headed back home. At 53, I can't say that my life has been one exciting thing after another, but I can say it's largely unpredictable and that God finds ways to put a smile on my face even on the worst of days. Upon my arrival home I informed our Golden Retriever that he missed out on a great walk. He, like so many of my K-9 and humanoid friends, just looked up at me like he didn't have the vaguest idea what I was talking about.

Saving jobs?
I'm going to try to make this analogy work, it all made sense as I thought about it mere moments ago. It seems, to suggest you are saving jobs at a time when unemployment has risen significantly above what you thought it would, is just a matter of semantics. I could argue that driving over the speed limit would save lives, and then demonstrate it by explaining that if you had driven 80 mph when you left grandma's house yesterday you would have been 300 yards past where the semi-truck crossed the median and caused the head-on collision. You can demonstrate that not wearing seat belts could save lives too, but you have to ignore the larger picture that, overall, seat belts, and more reasonable speeds actually result in a safer driving experience for all. Maybe this idea will work too. The government is spending money to save money. A little like buying 2 cars whose price has been discounted $2.000.00 in order to save $4.000.00 instead of just the two. The deficits we are incurring are going to negatively impact our economy for a much longer period of time then the initial trauma of dealing with the original crisis without all the spending would have.
I hope this clears up a few things for you.
You're very welcome, and I hope you have a good day, too.
